Tauck River Cruises

“How you see the world matters… and on Tauck River Cruises, you can expect to see the sights a bit differently than you would with anyone else. We explore Europe’s great waterways from the Rhine and the Danube to the French Rivers, Rhône and Seine. The custom-designed riverboats of Tauck’s Destination Fleet are spacious and comfortable, welcoming you to an onboard experience characterized by the Tauck Difference – all-inclusive river cruises featuring personalized cruising enhanced by those “little Tauck touches;” our intimate, club-like atmosphere onboard, and the uncommon access to exclusive cultural experiences on our included excursions ashore, ensuring experiences as memorable as the places you visit… not simply what other travelers see and do. We also feature special Solo Traveler Savings on all of our river cruises; have a special program for group travel; and are the only river cruise line with dedicated multigenerational family cruises. We invite you to explore our cruises and find the one that’s perfect for you… and discover river cruises that go beyond the ordinary…

Learn More about our Ships

When we launched our first river cruise in 1992, we knew that our guests would expect to cruise the rivers in the same memorable Tauck style they enjoyed on our land trips. Ultimately, we set about assembling not only a collection of river cruises that was ahead of its time, but also a fleet of custom-designed riverboats that set new standards in spaciousness and comfort. That kind of innovation has always been a hallmark of our river cruises, and continues today with the nine riverboats currently in Tauck’s Destination Fleet.

River Cruise BoatsWe designed our original 361-ft. riverboats, accommodating up to 118 guests, so our guests could enjoy an intimate, club-like atmosphere with upscale accommodations, and all the built-in advantages of a private ship. All of our cabins face outside; most have French balconies and sliding glass doors to drink in the scenery. Public spaces – including an aft casual dining area with an opening 180º glass wall, cocktail lounge, piano bar and dining room – boast panoramic windows throughout.

Inspiration Class – Category 3As Tauck River Cruising grew, we began expanding our riverboat fleet with an eye toward matching the size and design of our ships to the rivers and destinations they would cruise to. Our first 443-ft. ships were launched in 2014, and were joined in 2016 by ms Grace and ms Joy. They accommodate no more than 130 guests, maintaining Tauck’s high standards for luxury and comfort, providing the most space per guest on Europe’s inland waterways, transporting the fewest passengers of any longship (135 meters). Because our most popular cabins tend to be our largest, we’ve created an innovative deck plan offering twenty-two 300-square-foot Tauck Suites – the most of any river cruise ship on any European river. And we’ve created eight loft cabins that extend from the first to the second decks, affording guests more natural light and views of the passing scenery.

Here’s a rundown of some of the innovations on our 443-foot riverboats, which sail with 30% fewer passengers than other riverboats of comparable size:

River Cruise Boats

  • Twenty-two 300 sq. ft. Tauck Suites on the Diamond Deck, the most of any European riverboat of comparable size
  • More dedicated cabins for solo travelers than any European riverboat of similar size, plus Tauck waives the single supplement for Category 1 cabins
  • Innovative 225 sq. ft. loft cabins featuring a raised sitting area and 1.5 decks of window area
  • A second restaurant featuring relaxed elegance and grilled entrees
  • Bathrooms in 225 and 300 sq. ft. cabins featuring double sinks, larger showers, rain shower heads in Category 3 – 7, and more
  • Expanded gym/fitness facility, featuring a new rowing machine plus 2 treadmills and 2 stationary bikes
  • A hair salon
  • An elevator that stops on all decks (except Sun Deck)
  • Bicycles for use by guests on shore

For 2017, we’ve redesigned two of our 361-foot riverboats – ms Emerald, which will cruise France’s Rhône and Saône rivers, and ms Sapphire, cruising the Seine – with a new deck plan optimized for the utmost in spaciousness. With 70% of their cabins measuring 225 square feet or larger, these two newly refurbished members of Tauck’s Destination Fleet can accommodate no more than 98 guests – while similar-sized riverboats average about 160.

Guest amenities inside their 14 lush 300-square-foot Tauck Suites include brocade upholstery, roomy walk-in closets with built-in drawers, spacious marble baths with full-size tubs, and two French balconies with floor-to-ceiling windows that open to idyllic riverscapes. Each also sports twenty roomy 225-square-foot cabins, four 183-square-foot cabins and one 182 square-foot cabin, similarly furnished. Eight 150-square-foot cabins are cozy and comfortable, and are similar in décor and style to our larger suites. 85% have floor-to-ceiling windows with real French balconies that open on to a balcony in the fresh air.”
