Why Travel With National Geographic Expeditions Arctic?
An Extraordinary Legacy of Exploration
“National Geographic Expeditions was founded on the same belief in the importance of exploration that distinguishes the National Geographic Society’s 128-year history. Launched in 1999, National Geographic Expeditions now operates hundreds of trips each year, spanning all seven continents and more than 80 destinations.
Since its founding in 1888, the Society has developed incredible resources—from its network of experts, contacts, and Society-sponsored researchers all over the globe, to the top-tier editorial staff of National Geographic and National Geographic Traveler magazines, and the books, maps, and film and television divisions. National Geographic Expeditions taps these resources to create unique and authentic expeditions to fascinating parts of the world.
As part of the National Geographic Travel group, National Geographic Expeditions aims to fulfill the Society’s mission to inspire people to care about the planet by providing meaningful opportunities to explore it. Proceeds from all travel programs support the Society’s efforts to increase global understanding through exploration, education and scientific research.
National Geographic Expeditions
National Geographic Expeditions span the globe and are designed to reflect our travelers’ broad spectrum of interests. We travel on land, aboard small ships, along classic train routes, and in the comfort of a private jet, and we offer special trips for photographers, students, families, and independent travelers. When you travel with us on an expedition, you’ll enjoy boundless opportunities to be surrounded by natural wonders and exotic wildlife, to explore celebrated archaeological sites, to learn about different cultures and share in local traditions. A National Geographic expert or expert team accompanies most expeditions, sharing their knowledge and passion for a region and making each experience enriching and unforgettable.
National Geographic Adventures
National Geographic Adventures are unique, active itineraries for intrepid travelers that feature spectacular places, cultural interaction, and physical challenge. Each adventure has a designated activity level—from Easy to Ultimate Challenge, and you’ll have the option to take it easy or push your limits on more difficult excursions throughout most trips. Your group will never be larger than 16 travelers, and you’ll explore in the company of top guides, enjoying adventures that are both physically active and culturally rewarding.
National Geographic Journeys with G Adventures
We’ve partnered with G Adventures to offer National Geographic Journeys, small-group trips built on meaningful encounters with people and places, interactions with knowledgeable local guides, and fun! Each itinerary blends hands-on exploration with opportunities to forge human connections with people we meet all around the world. Usually limited to 16 or fewer travelers, National Geographic Journeys tours are accessibly priced and offer more free time and choices—with the structure and security of traveling in a small group.
Discover the National Geographic Difference
National Geographic was built upon a passion for discovery and a desire to understand the planet on a deeper level. Our earliest explorers liked to dig in; immerse themselves in new places; and get to know the local people and their traditions, cuisine, and everyday lives. Our trips are designed in the same spirit—to draw out the uniqueness of each destination through meaningful and enriching experiences.
Explore Alongside Our Experts
Whether you’re traveling with a National Geographic scientist or photographer, or meeting local experts along the way, you’ll enjoy a personal, inside perspective on the places you’re exploring.
Get Closer Than You Ever Imagined
National Geographic opens doors around the globe so that you can enjoy access to special sites and events, as well as experts in the field—including our own grantees, whose discoveries have helped illuminate the world’s cultural and natural treasures.
Experience the World Authentically
There’s a distinct difference between visiting a place and truly experiencing it. We design every expedition to be a celebration of a remarkable destination and a genuine interaction with its culture. From the people we meet and the traditions we encounter to the way we travel and the places we stay, our experiences reflect the authentic character of each destination.
When You Travel With Us, You Make a Difference
Now, more than ever, our planet needs our help. That’s why the National Geographic Society is expanding its commitment to save wildlife, protect our oceans, and fund researchers and explorers who are pushing the boundaries of knowledge. When you travel with us, you support this nonprofit work. A portion of the proceeds from all of our travel programs help fund critical research and conservation initiatives.
